The City of East Lansing is seeking two Early Childhood Lead Teachers; one lead teacher for children 6 weeks to 2.5 years (Infant/Toddler) and one lead teacher for children 2.5 years to 5 years old (Pre-School).The Lead Teachers will plan, implement and evaluate effective child development programs for the children in their care. Lead Teachers will oversee care-giving staff assigned to the program and be responsible to ensure positive, high-quality, care and supervision of the children in their care at all times. In addition, the Lead Teachers will be responsible for ensuring that all space, equipment, training, supervision, childcare rules and routines, and all records and files, are maintained and conducted in compliance with the Michigan Department of Human Services Licensing Rules for Childcare Centers.Employment is dependent on a successful background check through the State of Michigan. A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or a child-related field is preferred; Associates degree or CDA in early childhood education or child development required. Three semester hours in infant/toddler development and care practices from an accredited college or university is required for infant/toddler Lead Teacher applicants. Medical certification indicating Statement of Good Health and negative TB screening test results, and two years experience in a licensed childcare center are also required. Certification in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain.
