The Port Lansing Intern will assist Director identify opportunities to engage businesses with the Port. This will include contacting companies currently importing/exporting, along with service providers around Michigan that may consider using Port Lansing as their port of choice. The Intern will also encourage companies to be listed on the Port Lansing directory at www.portlansing.com. Additionally, the intern will assist with scheduling of company visits and event presentations, various marketing efforts, including Social Media updates with Facebook and Twitter, attendance of training and networking events related to global trade. May assist with planning and coordination of Port Lansing and partner events. Desired Qualifications: Prefer major and course work in supply chain management, logistics, international business, or related topics. Personable, able to work with professionals at all levels. Looking for someone interested in helping increase the level of global trade for our region and State. Helpful if candidate should has professional contacts around the globe that could be of benefit to Greater Lansing companies. Dependable transportation and business attire required. Must know MS Office well, including Outlook, Word, Excel, with graphics applications a plus. Specific Tasks include administrative tasks such as: Development of detailed contact list, Enter contacts (from business cards and other sources) into database and Outlook, Copy contacts to Constant Contact, Market research for clients and/or due diligence on clients, partners, Schedule company meetings as directed, Correspondence with companies, partners, etc. Other activities as needed by Director staff and marketing tasks such as: Preparation of marketing packets (folders, brochures, business cards, etc.), Prepare monthly website activity reports, Post relevant FB posts – increase number of FB “likes”, Coordinate website updates with web master and Attend relevant meetings/events as available.
