Develop software or web-based enterprise applications using a variety of tools and open source technologies using generally accepted design patterns;
Perform product design, bug verification, release testing, automated testing, and beta support on applications;
Design and document solutions, working with team members, product management, and customers;
Typical projects might include building features for existing products using MVC frameworks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaEE, SQL, and Web Services.

The successful intern will be responsible for helping to develop the Michigan SACWIS application according to the requirements and design specifications. The intern must be familiar with the industry web-related standard concepts, practices, and procedures. He/she willa ct as a subject matter expert in relation to the web development and support the web practice. Will define and implement, industry standard practices for web development and maintenance per the MI SACWIS development standards. As well as develop, implement, and maintain web-based applications, interface programs and report programs

This is a work-study type of position that generally will be filled by college students pursing clinical, technical or business careers in heath care.  These may be paid or non-paid positions; non-paid positions will typically be associated with academic credits.  The purpose of the position is to support general operations in the designated areas while promoting workforce development.  This position includes opportunities to develop experience in a multitude of areas including complex problem solving.

The Information Services Intern will gain exposure to a fast paced IT department and have the ability to learn and practice skills in several areas of the department including the virtualization, data center and asset management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Participate in printer strategy team, including developing best practices for user printer needs policy.
2. Work in Data Center on final stages of virtualization project. 
3. This includes identifying and pulling old servers and cable from racks. 
4. Scan, inventory, and index equipment into new asset management system.
5. This includes identifying equipment types and models, and entering information for asset tracking.
6. Other duties and experiences as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. All candidates must be currently enrolled in a college/university program leading to an Associates or Bachelors degree
2. Preferred majors: Information Systems / Technology Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
3. Must be currently matriculating or a recent graduate with a major in the aforementioned areas
4. Must be available to work 40hrs/week, Monday through Friday, for 10-weeks starting at the beginning of May 2012
5. 3.0 GPA or above preferred
6. Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism
7. Effective communicator
8. Proficiency in use of Word, Excel, and Power Point, applications
9. Intermediate computing skills preferred
10. Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Assist with the day to day management of Windows services, desktop workstations, and infrastructure; assist with internal help ticket response; assist with the maintenance and implementation of systems, services and applications for the operations of the IT infrastructure; assist with the coordination of vendors for services and equipment; assist with firmware, software and security updates for IT systems; assist with hardware repairs, disk swaps, RAID rebuilds.

The responsibility of the IT Project Intern is to assist with IT project initiatives, including the global implementation of SAP ERP for Dart Container.  The IT Project Intern will be an integral part of the project team and support a variety of critical path project activities and deliverables including solution design, configuration, development and testing.  This role entails working in a fast paced and dynamic environment to create world class solutions for Dart Container.

The Programmer/Analyst Intern designs, develops, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains web pages and web-based applications.  In addition, the candidate will support the System Administration and Networking team by monitoring systems, backups and other operational support.  The candidate will also provide technical assistance and specialized software support for MPHI’s internal and external customers.

Software Engineer Interns help develop and test TechSmith's software products. They work with one or more product teams, coding, debugging, and testing. Interns are often involved with feature enhancement, new feature, and prototype development. Interns participate in the software engineering practices and process, including "agile" development methodologies/frameworks, user centered design and usability, and unit testing.

Design user interfaces for desktop applications and web services along-side our experienced designers in an agile software development environment. Candidates must be advocates for users, software usability, and UCD plus capable of solving user problems and applying user-centered design principles.

This is an IT Student Assistant position.  As such the employee will support the agency in a variety of Information Technology endeavors.  The roles that they support would be a key factor and may include one or more of the following activities:

Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of applications used by various state agencies.

Participate in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of public-facing and internal web sites.

Work with those responsible for the overall quality, operation, design and security of the web site, in addition to daily routine support.

Participate in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT applications written in a variety of development languages.

Database management tasks including database design, creating and running queries and stored procedures, forecasting future growth, migrating to newer versions of the database, performance tuning, SQL query optimization, and assisting with data migration for newly developed applications.

Participate in configuration management and release management tasks with database administrators and application developers.

Assist database administrators, application developers and business owners to ensure the quality of application updates by doing configuration management.

Assist with the development and administration of quality control standards and software testing methodologies.

Using the assigned Division's change management process and tools, control the application software change process to ensure that version retro-grades do not occur.

Develop operational and installation procedures for communication systems, hardware, network security, storage and software.
