Typical projects might include building features for existing products using MVC frameworks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaEE, SQL, and Web Services.

Information Services Intern

The Information Services Intern will gain exposure to a fast paced IT department and have the ability to learn and practice skills in several areas of the department including the virtualization, data center and asset management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Participate in printer strategy team, including developing best practices for user printer needs policy.
  2. Work in Data Center on final stages of virtualization project. 
  3. This includes identifying and pulling old servers and cable from racks. 
  4. Scan, inventory, and index equipment into new asset management system.
  5. This includes identifying equipment types and models, and entering information for asset tracking.
  6. Other duties and experiences as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  1. All candidates must be currently enrolled in a college/university program leading to an Associates or Bachelors degree
  2. Preferred majors: Information Systems / Technology Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  3. Must be currently matriculating or a recent graduate with a major in the aforementioned areas
  4. Must be available to work 40hrs/week, Monday through Friday, for 10-weeks starting at the beginning of May 2012
  5. 3.0 GPA or above preferred
  6. Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism
  7. Effective communicator
  8. Proficiency in use of Word, Excel, and Power Point, applications
  9. Intermediate computing skills preferred
  10. Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

This is an IT Student Assistant position.  As such the employee will support the agency in a variety of Information Technology endeavors.  The roles that they support would be a key factor and may include one or more of the following activities:

Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of applications used by various state agencies.

Participate in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of public-facing and internal web sites.

Work with those responsible for the overall quality, operation, design and security of the web site, in addition to daily routine support.

Participate in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT applications written in a variety of development languages.
