Assist the department director in monitoring and evaluation of insurance legislation and regulation including response to Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) queries. Provide compliance direction and advice to functional Property Casualty (P/C) departments within the company. Consult with internal and external legal counsel as needed. Participate in company P/C projects in both a compliance and product capacity. Draft P/C policy language as assigned. Fill department and project leadership roles as assigned.

Responsible for ensuring the proactive management of work-related illnesses and injuries by utilizing an outcome-based disability management model. Exercise significant discretion in the determination of compensability of workers compensation claims. Estimate the costs of personal injury, considering such factors as nature of the injury, diagnosis, prognosis, earning capability, and the need for rehabilitation. Negotiates and settles with claimants and/or attorneys, within authority, at earliest possible point to bring cases to final disposition.
