Summary:

This position provides career and employability skills advising using a holistic, developmental approach to advising. Serves as a career and employment advising liaison for all areas of the College. The position assists and guides students through the development of career awareness, career planning, career decision making skills and the knowledge and understanding of occupational, education, and labor market needs, trends and opportunities. Advise students concerning basic skill levels, degree and transfer requirements, course selection, academic status, and class expectations. Assist students in the creation of Educational Development Plans that reflect their educational goals and career objectives. Support recruitment and retention functions by communicating with potential students and referring students to available student support services. Leads small group activities and classroom presentations in the areas of career advising and employability skills. Assist in special projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist, guide and support students in the development of career awareness, planning and decision making skills.

- Research, develop, and conduct presentations (i.e. resume writing assistance, interviewing techniques, employability skills, networking, and relevant student employment service opportunities) for LCC classes, student organizations, student/alumni groups and professional/community organizations. Assist with the development/selection of career-related resources and career assessment tools (tests), as well as the coordination/presentation of career planning-related initiatives & programs.

- Collaborate with faculty to ensure effective communication between students and instructors.

- Advise students in all majors and transfer curricula. Interpret basic skill testing results.

- Develop and facilitate career advising seminars for students and professional development workshops for staff on a wide variety of LCC career advising resources.

- Serve as a career and employment services liaison with all areas of the College to coordinate the development of career planning resources and to ensure accurate advising information is communicated to students.

- Maintain and update student records, work with student databases.

- Assist in special projects as needed.



Application Systems Analyst

Director -- International Engineering Program

The College of Engineering at Michigan State University seeks a dynamic professional to lead a variety of initiatives and programs aimed at engaging our student body and faculty with learning and research programs at leading engineering schools and industries throughout the world.

The Director will work with engineering faculty, college administrators and staff, the MSU Office of International Studies and Programs, global educational institutions and global employers to expand and foster internationalization of the curriculum including study abroad programs for MSU students, develop and promote programs to bring international students to MSU as exchange or direct enrollment students, connect with industry and research programs abroad to expand our research activities and provide our students research and work experiences abroad, and pursue development of extramural resources in support of such partnerships for both activities abroad and hosting international colleagues at MSU. In doing so, the Director will coordinate closely with others in the Engineering International Programs office, the Engineering Careers office, and the Associate Dean for Research. An understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, curricula and research is needed to develop programs that will successfully align with our programs and attract our students. The candidate will report to the Associate Dean of Engineering. Significant international travel is a job expectation.



Program Director for High School Diploma Completion Initiative

The Program Director will implement and administer a multi-faceted comprehensive education program that will focus on providing service to young people (aged 16-19) who have left the K-12 school system without graduating.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of the high school initiative, including student selection, staffing, instructional leadership and day to day administration.

Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with employers, K-12 leaders, other educators and parents, the Director maintains, refines and develops programs for the High School Diploma Completion Initiative that change and grow with the needs of HSDCI stakeholders and reflect the College's commitment to the needs of its community and students.

The Director leads faculty and staff of the HSDC Initiative by encouraging the learning and growth of each person who works with HSDCI students and provides feedback to them that supports their professional development. The Director helps to identify and select faculty and staff who can work creatively with the unique opportunities of the HSDCI. This leadership should create a team of faculty and staff who are highly motivated, collaborative and professionally progressive who use their enthusiasm for learning as a springboard for serving their students.

Carefully assigning resources and developing effective systems, the Director coordinates the work of HSDCI/IISD and LCC faculty and staff to provide comprehensive and effective support for students' learning. The Director plans, monitors and reconciles the budget for the HSDCI in ways consistent with College practices, goals and plans.



Web Services Manager

Lead the planning, development and operation of LCC's web presence. Set priorities, execute and monitor work on the web site. Ensure the web effectively meets the marketing, public relations, and internal and external needs of the College.

Essential Duties:

Lead Planning and Development of Web-based Services
- Coordinate and execute the planning and development of web-based information with representatives of Marketing, Executive Leadership, IT, PR, Student Services, and other stakeholder groups
- Coordinate web strategies with IT and Web Management Team
- Coordinate, manage and execute projects, track major developments to meet changing needs and requirements
- Prepare, monitor and analyze budget
- Maintain and develop reports for project and budget analysis
- Coordinate, implement and improve operational practices and procedures in collaboration with staff
- Track and monitor progress of issues and identify interventions and resolutions
- Interact with other institutions to share ideas about effective web services
- Monitor key developments in web technology and web management methods to advise on best practices
- Build and maintain effective relationships with web stakeholders and users
- Encourage awareness of Web Services through effective internal communication

Provide Supervision and Leadership
- Recruit, select and supervise day-to-day activities of staff
- Plan, organize and coordinate staff orientation and training
- Conduct performance improvement process in accordance with standard practice and collective bargaining agreements
- Initiate disciplinary process, within scope of authority and in consultation with HR, to comply with College policies and practices
- Manage and allocate workload and define priorities
- Provide leadership by disseminating information, providing feedback, advising, and coaching

Maintain Security and Integrity of Website
- Primary contact for system emergencies that may occur outside of normal operations
- Provide emergency support for web servers, Banner Student/Employee information and internet/intranet databases
- Review users' websites to ensure adherence to standard practices
- Monitor LCC's footprint on the WWW
- Authorize removal of websites not consistent with standard practice or contain inappropriate material in accordance with guidelines
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standard security features and implement as necessary
- Authorize and provide access to Web Management Systems enabling users to edit web pages
- Ensure databases are encrypted to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Identify application, server and hardware malfunctions and work with IT to resolve issues ensuring data/system integrity

- Establish and maintain a work tracking system
- Set priorities for web work based on broad directions set by the College Strategic Plan
- Coordinate communication regarding work status with those who have requested web services

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Web/Online Marketing-related discipline

Minimum 5 years experience in developing or leading development of web sites and/or web based services

Experience in Project Management and Supervision are required

Understanding of the post-secondary education environment preferred

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups
