Lansing Flooring Company Experiences 53 Percent Growth in Profit in 2010

Lansing-based Heritage Flooring has seen a 53 percent increase in its gross profit for the first quarter of 2010 compared to the first quarter in 2009. Co-owner, Tashmica Torok attributes this boom in business to stronger marketing initiatives, along with a diversified client base and services.

"We spent our slow times this year developing our company and increasing our marketing efforts," says Torok. "[As a] graduate of the Entrepreneur Institute of Mid-Michigan I was introduced to many valuable tools throughout the Lansing area."

This included market research with the Capital Area District Library, and other resources that encouraged Torok to use social media and other online tools to increase brand recognition. In March, the company introduced its new blog, "Completely Floored," to drive traffic to the company site. The blog was named in an online competition.

"While we all recognize that Michigan's economy is still in the depths of a recession, we believe our flexible approach to business allowed Heritage Flooring not only to persevere but to emerge stronger than ever," says Torok. "We are looking forward to a record year of growth in which we will be able to hire more staff and serve more customers."
