Although it sucks that a three-alarm fire destroyed Discount Dave’s furniture store back in May of 2009, some good has come of it. Dave Sheets, owner of the now-vacant lot at 1121 South Washington in REO Town, allowed his property to serve as the site of the Art Attack! Festival on September 24 ... and didn’t charge a penny. Local artists created right before spectators’ eyes and there was a definite feeling of being in the right place on a Saturday afternoon. The organizers were cool, the artists were friendly – even the guy selling hot dogs was a likable fellow.
