Urban Lounge Ready to Electrify Lansing

What is an Urban Lounge?

An Urban Lounge is a large space with an open floor plan that allows the nightlife crowd to get freaky on the dance floor, people-watch, sit in semi-private groups away from the crowd, sit at the bar for a taste of the bar scene, play pool or play Nintendo Wii.

Lansingites don't have to rely on that description. They can check out Lansing's first urban lounge at the beginning of April, when the Harem Urban Lounge opens in Downtown Lansing.

"Our aim is to be very, very comfortable for someone who is 21, 31 or 41," says manager Dave Sell. "We were really trying to be something different here."

Harem Urban Lounge is at least double the size of any other bar in Lansing. The dance floor at the front of the lounge has more than $30,000 worth of lights and mirrors so patrons can watch themselves while dancing to live DJs.

Sell and his business partner, Doug Johns, Jr., also operate the Exchange, a popular Lansing bar located down the street. The Harem Urban Lounge is designed based on clubs Sell and Johns have visited in cities like Las Vegas. It's sexy, it's exciting and it's fun.

Harem will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
