Lansing-based high tech firm
Spartan Internet is putting just under $2 million into the old Holmes Street School on Lansing's Eastside, turning the once shuttered building into a new Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC).
Spartan Internet will move from its Downtown Lansing location to the third floor of the building once building updates are complete. ITEC will be on the first floor and the second floor will host other firms.
“This is one people will be talking about,” says Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero about the new development. “This is one people will emulate.”
ITEC will train Lansing children and adults in technology-based areas. It will also offer programs focusing on science, engineering, math, digital media and writing.
ITEC is a collaboration between Spartan Internet, the City of Lansing, Michigan State University (MSU), the Holmes Street Neighborhood Association, the Lansing School District, Prima Civitas Foundation and Dewpoint, Inc.
