Lansing Women Turn Dog Loving Habits Into Successful Business

Three Lansing women who love dogs and have creative tendencies turned one of their morning coffee gab sessions into All Dogged Up, a clothing line geared toward dog lovers with a sense of humor and style.

All Dogged Up sells t-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, hats, buttons and magnets. Barbara Hranilovich, Terri Haas Wittmann and Janet Smith all have other jobs and started the company as an extension of their love of dogs. Right now, the women operate out of their houses and use BLT's Wearable Arts to produce their products, but they want to get into the wholesale market.

The designs are “doggedly tongue in chic” and feature ubiquitous dogs, which the women did intentionally so their products could be worn by dog lovers who own all types of dogs. For example, one design features two dogs sniffing each other with a slogan at the bottom that simply says, “instant messaging.”

“We knew we had something that wasn’t a niche we’d seen,” says Hranilovich.

All Dogged Up is one of Lansing’s many new dog friendly ventures. The city recently opened a dog park, and three other female entrepreneurs have plans to open a doggie daycare called AnnaBelle’s.
