Nick Thurlow grew up tinkering with computers. Today, he does it as a
full-time job, and about two months ago he opened a second shop at 108 West
Scott St. in Grand Ledge to accompany his St. Johns location.
The
new space gives him about 800 square feet to perform general computer
repair, build custom computers and troubleshoot problems for his
clientele. Thurlow also makes house calls.
“I do whatever it takes to fix a computer,” says Thurlow, a
Lansing Community College graduate and St. Johns native.
The
25-year-old Westphalia resident is the lone staffer at Comet and says
he is “just trying to make it” doing something he is good at. Business
has been off to a slow start, but once people see his new business he
expects it to pick up.
Specializing in
building custom computers based on clients’ needs, Thurlow says he can
build a computer for any need, whether it is for gaming or for
portability.
“I once built a computer inside a
La-Z-Boy,” he says. “That was pretty cool.”
Thurlow says the advantage to buying custom computers is that it is cheaper and designed for your own personal needs.
He hopes to have a company website up and running in the coming weeks.
