New Photography Studio Moves To Downtown Lansing Near Capitol Building

In the five years that Tammy Sue Allen has been doing photography as her job, she has freelanced for the City Pulse, Greater Lansing Woman and shot weddings in her spare time. With a new 150 square foot storefront located across the street from the Capitol Building in Downtown Lansing, she anticipates even more exposure.

She moved into the new space June 1 and expects to be open for business by July 1. As a photographer, Allen is most excited about its location.

“The house is across the street from the Capitol building, which can provide a lot of interesting backdrops for photography,” says Allen, who founded Tammy Sue Allen Photography. “There are also older, brick buildings and alleys that have some character, and would look great in photos.”

The office space, within a 1,500 square foot home originally built in 1912, is located at 208 N. Walnut. Allen's studio was originally the covered porch of the house before the landlord enclosed the area to make room for businesses. However, original details to the space remain, such as wood floors and trim and a large fireplace with built-in books shelves.

Apartment living over the past few years has limited Allen’s ability to set up her own studio. She specializes in wedding photo packages.
