Editor-in-Chief:
A Jayhawk by birth, Brad arrived in Lansing (for the
forests and the rivers) in 2001 with everything he owned in the back of a 1987
Ford Ranger. With degrees in Geology and English, his youthful aspirations
included writing for National Geographic, hosting a travel show on the
Discovery Channel, and writing the Great American novel. He's currently an
optimistic 0-for-3.
A full-time environmental advocate working to bring Smart
Growth development ideas to Michigan's statehouse, Brad enjoys mountain biking,
fly fishing, cold beer and baseball. His favorite seats in Lansing include the
first base-side before a Lugnuts game, the counter at Old Town's Golden Harvest
Restaurant, and the house he shares with his wife, Jennifer, near the Lansing
River Trail.
His writing has been ignored in the Texas Review,
Touchstone Magazine, the Flint Hills Review, Michigan Environmental Report,
Michigan Prospect, and a few rants in newspapers Up North; you might also hear
him on Michigan Public Radio once in a while.
Managing Editor:
Ivy's only been in Lansing for three years, but she's
already seen tremendous changes in the area's Downtown. The energy surrounding
Downtown Lansing prompted her and her husband to buy a house in Lansing's
diverse Eastside, where they spend countless nights people-watching on their
porch.
Ivy started writing professionally in her home state of
Colorado where she covered education, health care, business and entertainment
for a variety of publications including the Greeley Tribune, the Glenwood Springs
Post Independent and the Wyoming Business Report.
After covering Michigan politics for more than two years for MIRS,
Ivy launched her own freelance writing business. She spends most days traveling
from coffee shop to coffee shop, catching a caffeine buzz and writing about
politics, business and technology.
Director of Photography:
It's hard to find someone in Lansing's professional crowd
that hasn't been in front of Dave's camera lens. Dave's been taking photos in
the Lansing area since 1987 and through his freelance photography business,
Trumpie Photography, has developed a client list that includes the area's major
PR firms, publications and businesses.
Dave's also captured Mohammad Ali, Senator Hilary
Clinton, James Earl Jones and President George Bush on film. His photos have
popped up in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, the Detroit News, the
Detroit Free Press and USA Today. Dave's a Grand Ledge man, but he's snapped
his way to Poland, Australia and the Hawaiian Islands.
Dave lives with his wife, Jen, in an 1890 farmhouse.
Their children are Piglet and Sydney, an adopted cat and dog. When they can,
they leave Piglet and Sydney at home and go to the state's West coast to play
with Shooter, their sailboat.
